Start at the consumer unit
A kiln above about three kilowatts needs a dedicated circuit run from the consumer unit, correctly rated and installed by a qualified electrician. Whether that is straightforward depends on spare capacity, the distance to the kiln's location and the age of the installation. An hour with an electrician before ordering saves buying a kiln that cannot be connected.
The room
Non-combustible floor, weight-bearing, clearance as the manufacturer specifies, ventilation, and no one sleeping there. Garages and outbuildings suit best; utility rooms work; internal cupboards do not. Heat is the part people forget: a kiln raises the temperature of a small room significantly for hours.
Living with the schedule
A bisque firing can run twelve hours or more and a glaze firing similar, with cooling on top. That means the kiln is running while you are doing other things, which is normal and is also why a controller and a well-sited kiln matter. Nobody should be firing a kiln in a space that has to be locked, blocked or used for something else halfway through.
What it adds up to
The kiln, the electrical installation if needed, shelves and props, cones, and a little more electricity than people expect.
